Tish’s journey has been marked by resilience and perseverance. From an early age, she understood that her path would not be easy due to the traumas she faced. As she embarked on her high school and college education, her health presented significant challenges, leading to a series of complex medical conditions and persistent pain. Despite numerous surgeries and the advice of her doctors to consider disability, Tish remained steadfast in her resolve to continue working and not succumb to her illnesses.
Her determination was unwavering as she pursued not only one, but two bachelor’s degrees, the second in nursing, despite the daunting circumstances. Her tenacity was fueled by a refusal to accept limitations, and she worked tirelessly to prove her capabilities. Now, with over 40 surgeries and multiple serious health diagnoses behind her, Tish stands as a beacon of hope and determination, inspiring those who doubt the possible.
With more than two decades of experience in healthcare, Tish’s career began in the ICU/CCU of Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX, in 2000. She is a proud holder of a bachelor’s degree in biology (2005) and a bachelor’s degree in nursing (2008), both from Baylor University. Her deep commitment to healthcare and nursing was ignited by her personal experiences with trauma and pain, which provided her with a unique perspective and empathy towards her patients.
Tish’s professional expertise covers a broad spectrum, including critical care, emergency services, surgical recovery, medical-surgical care, bone marrow transplantation, oncology, nursing case management, and managed care services for Medicare and Medicaid. Her career has spanned direct patient care and administrative roles in medical facilities. She is adept at devising tailored treatment plans that consider both financial and medical limitations and is skilled in case and quality management, ensuring compliance with corporate and legal standards. Tish is also known for her meticulous documentation of complex medical information, which contributes to improved patient outcomes. Her competencies encompass project management, effective communication, and strategic planning.
In 2023, Tish earned the title of Certified Legal Nurse Consultant, and in 2024, she established her business, Superior Legal Nurse Consulting, PLLC. She now focuses her efforts on supporting attorneys in healthcare-related legal cases. Her extensive experience, educational background, and professional credentials are highly regarded in the healthcare sector. Throughout her distinguished career, Tish has been recognized for her exceptional work ethic, resilience, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to her employers and patients. As the founder and leader of Superior Legal Nurse Consulting, PLLC, she continues to embody these qualities.
What’s most important to keep in mind during the very difficult trials we face? “Knowing you will prevail! You are stronger than you realize. You are fierce! You are by no means weak. Keep the faith. Stay motivated and seek refuge in those close to you.” Tish’s motivation to pursue nursing, despite her health challenges, stems from her personal experiences with illness and the healthcare system. Her own struggles with complex diagnoses and chronic pain gave her a profound empathy for others facing similar challenges. This empathy, combined with her determination to overcome adversity, fueled her passion for nursing. She wanted to use her unique insights and experiences to provide compassionate care and support to her patients, understanding their needs in ways that perhaps others could not. Her resilience and refusal to give in to her conditions exemplified her commitment to her goals and to making a positive impact in the lives of others through her chosen profession. Tish’s journey is a testament to the power of hope, tenacity, and the desire to contribute to the well-being of others, even when facing one’s own trials. What’s next for Tish? She’s in the process of getting three certifications to offer more services to the attorneys she helps! Nothing is stopping her! “Life will throw everything at you…and how you choose to look at things makes a huge difference. You can look at it and think you can’t do the things you want and that you have to give up. For some, that’s okay. But, if you’re like me, it’s not enough. You are destined for greatness! The only true thing that can stop you is you. Don’t lose hope! Instead of looking at things in a negative light, look at them with gratitude. It’s because of these hurdles that you get to do something or be that person that someone else in your life needs. It’s because of these trials that you are prepared to bring someone else the hope they need when they are ready to give up. Instead of seeing the rose bush with thorns, choose to see the thorn bush with roses. Bringing hope back to others will fuel your fire to keep fighting too. Once you see that there’s nothing stronger than you, you are a force to be reckoned with and there’s nothing that can stop you or steel your hope ever again!”
